I am somewhat new at using these types of tools, and I will say I have had nothing but the best support from everyone at salvation data. I am very pleased with the effort the tech support staff will give you if you run into difficulties or just have a question..

Since you are a sales representative with Salvation Data, maybe you can tell me how the Seagate doctor tool compares with the Seagate tools offered with the PC3000? I have never been able to get a satisfactory answer to this question.

I Hate the Seagate Tool Of Salvation ,there is a hell lot of improvement it needs ,It has the worst user manual .You need to use a Pc 3000 user manual to learn more about the seagate family and the terminal commands .The fist device i got was not working on many machines ,i had a bug with the power design .Now i have another toy with me that is licensed to bruce "thier Technician " and i have paid for the thing .Joke of the century .....

I really like the Seagate Doctor from Salvationdata. In fact it was the first purchase I made with them because the Seagate portion of PC-3000 was horrible. Its not a complete solution but it has saved me in many recoveries. In my opinion it is worth double or triple what its advertised for. But don't purchase it and expect the manual to tell you every scenario for data recovery. I hardly ever use the manual. It is a professional tool and should be used by people who understand data recovery.

I've used it several times for firmware corruption and troubleshooting. If I had to list every problem it solved this would be a long post.

I own two products from SalvationData (HD doctor for Seagate and HD doctor for Maxtor).
SalvationData products are really powerful. They can do wonders. It gives amazing result.

Positives
1. SalvationData products comes as a small box with all the connectors and jumpers and USB interfaced. So, its easy to shift between systems. --> Great Mobility.

2. SalvationData products range from 400$ to 500$ (Maxtor, Seagate,WD) and 600$(Hitachi). Since, they are sold separately, you got an option to buy as per your requirement (for example, if you are getting more Seagate disks, you can spend 400$ and get only Seagate product. --> You can buy each product as on when required and you are paying only for the product which you are going to use immediately --> Cost Affordability.

3. Very Friendly Tech support team. You can chat with highly qualified professionals like Bruce, Tac, etc. and they really help in each and every case. When I chat with Bruce for a doubt, he will insist me only to do it following his instructions, which gave me lot of confidence to handle their product and easy learning also--> Excellent Tech Support

Negatives
1. Documentation to be more depth. They have already proved us that they are working on that area. Able to see lot of newer documents in their website, updated frequently.

2. Lack of Firmware resources. I later understood that the Firmware resources are Disk Manufacturer's proprietory. Its not legal also for anybody to publish the disk manufacture's firmware resources to the public. Its our own responsiblity to take a backup of the firmware resources of the disks we get for logical recovery or from the customer given backup disks,etc., and share them among us thro forums on demand. We only need to help each other in getting the firmware resources. We are paying SalvationData or any other similar company to own the peice of Hardware which will allow us to reach certain restricted areas of the disks and focus on the problem area.
