Hi,

I have some corrupted disk after a inverse connecting the power plug.

Disk Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160 Gb
Model: ST3160812A
P/N: 9BD032-301
Firmware: 2AAA
Date code: 06165
Site code: AMK
PCB: 100368182 REV A

Because damage is much more serious, does not make sense to check TVS diode.
After a careful examination and cleaning pathways of PCB, I saw a few of blown places and burnt smooth controller.
If the preamp system is damaged, I will go to the DR.
But for now I plan to change PCB board and replace ROM, I do not lose anything.
So, please verify. Would ROM was recognized correctly?
And please hint, whether the new PCB board must be exactly the same in this Seagate model?

Find a PCB donor, and swap ROM.

No, that's not ROM, but a part of a DC-DC converter.
The ROM is the 8pin IC in the middle of the PCB.

Hey pepe, just curious, how did you know that was the ROM? Is there something imprinted on the chip itself?

also you can tell by what the legs are connected to

Thanks, so if you trace the chip, if it connects to the MCU it is likely the ROM? What should I be looking for?
