Hi!
Probably it is impossible to repair Fujitsu 2.5" with PC3k. If you are the begginer, the drive must wait to be repaired; if you are advanced in hdd repair you don't need of PC3k

Why you think it's impossible? It depends of drive defect
Of course pc3k not the best tool to do it ( but what you want from software for newbies ?)

Hi all, hehehehe _vi_ you allways play hard, I'm seeing your msgs and I took one that you wrote to me in the past, at Andrey's board and I can see: yes is the same guy.
But I realy like you because you always do me a favor, when you put the things like you donne, is a challenge to me to improve my kwnoledge. And I agree with you I'm a newbie.
To Derek - You had the oprotunity to hear two persons that has a lot of more experience that I, so the only thing that I can put here is: WHen I goes to the Acelab Website and I see the list of the Hard disks that it can work, I never see a 2.5" hard disk, so maybe you only can work with the PCdefectoscope and with PC3000AT to see the 2.5" hard disks. Anyway I allways think that to work with anything you allways had to have a right tool.

Hi Darek, I think that you can get a most powerfull tool if you want, the only thing is that will be harder to use and will cost you more moaney, but if you wnat here is some tip:
Data Transit Pod for ATA ATAPI drivers.
http://www.datatransit.com/products/busdr_pod_ata.html
Data Transit Pod for Serial ATA drivers.
http://www.datatransit.com/products/busdr_pod_sata.html
Data Transit Pod for SCSI drivers.
http://www.datatransit.com/products/busdr_pod_scsi.html
This produt also can be found at Tektronics and Toyo japan, and some others companys.
And here is something less expensive that you can use, and with some patience you can get some valuable info.
Extreme Protocol Solutions
http://www.extremeprotocol.com/ata_products.html
This is all that i have for now, if some day I had more I will put the info here.
Best regards
Jose Pinto
Ps: If you can wait I will have some info to you next October for something more powerfull also.

As usual best tool is write by you own
If you see unsupported hdd you always can adapt you tools. Due it's commercial nature pc3k is very restricted tools, in you tools you free of that. For example: pchdd can test fujitsu drive with himalaya mpu without knowing about different firmware revision, in pc3k tools must "know firmware". Why? If you buy pc3k you receive support & update, if not you can't repair new hdd (they fight with pirates this way )...

Hm, it's just protocol scaner. Most things can be done without such expenseve tools (it's useles if you not study hdd fw)

Maybe when the ACE will be included in complex PC3K one tool for sending own commands directly
to ATA ports (like hdd.exe or hddl) will be a great step for working and with the 2.5". But, of course
the problem will be Super command for this drives; thease never will be availible on this forum. Maybe
using a private emails....

As I see, most english-speaking people in this forum want to buy the PC3000 tool. But! Have you ever thought, that ACe Lab do illegal actions with hacking the programming code for HDD's? If you are interesting in this question, so I can tell you, that I think, that ACe LAb WON'T selling their's product to abroad. Because, if, for example Quantum, or IBM, or Fujitsu receive this tool, they will see a DISASSEMBLING their own rpograms, firmwares, diskwares. Isn't it? Tell me your's opinions. It's interesting for me.
And another thing. If you want to be a professioanl HDD repairman, you must to study a HDD principles by yourself. AS for me, I'm not a repairman, I'm just a interesting of it and I lacking an equal education in this scope of activity.
Best regards!

Ah! Forgot to answer of your question!
Do you know, how Ace lab writes their utilities?
So I can tell you! They do "digging" the source code of the HDD firmware. They do disassembling the firmware, they study the HDD
And this much hard, than you can imagine this process. I can tell you (at all) how the HDD.EXE team do their job. They take a specific HDD model and begin to studiy it. They find the HDD CPU's disassembler, then they disassembling the firmware(which can be found in the various updates for hard drives firmware), they find in this disassembled source codes specific commands(which are unique for specific hard disk drive model) and then they write their OWN utilities.
As for PC3k and 2.5 HDD's. Sorry, at present day, the PC3k doesn't support the 2.5 HDD models(this is as far as aI know). But If you want to know exactly, I can send you a list.

Extendind the vaio post!
I have PC3000 from 18 month and I'm not from Russia. It was very difficult to get this
products outside of russia but not impossible. The tools from ACE can be must professinal
but for the beginners is enought. For professionals is not enought but many proffesional don't
have need of this. So Yoiu have completly right when you say to be a read repair man you must
debug yourself disk firmware. But always for begin is very hard, after you get experience the job working more quickly. Few time ago I was to begin to write my own tools. It still very hard to get
the know-how, especially nobody want to talk about this and all don't want to talk have completly
right. So my advice for the beginers is to begin to lead how to deassamble DSP code.....

Hi all, I read what vaio wrote and I would like to put here my opinion. I'm a person with strong position in everything during all my life; and this have caused me a lot of problems, but this is me, allways saying what I think no matter what is gonna cost or happens to me.
First I would like to say that everybody has the same rights, so you do what you have to do, and if this is doing something that ofend others, they has to complain. We live in a world that has very long time that the Law is -who has what and not who knows something.
The companys that does hard disk has a lomg time that they need to help costumers and companys that works withs assistance, but what they does ? They work with budgget they work to increase theyers profts only, and if you don't have money to buy another hard disk, this is your problem.
Everytime that we send a message to them asking for help they anwser the same, and all of us know what is it. So if ACELAB, HDD TEAM, BVG GROUP or any other knows how to help us or can show how we can do this, they have my respect and my support, my thought "the hole thing has to have priority opposite of the detail" So all of the persons in the world that uses computers are more important than the manufactors of hard disks, this is what I think. So if Maxtor Fujitsu, IBM, or whatever is beeing fucked because someone or some company is working to help theyers costumers - ITHINK THAT THIS IS VERY NICE - and they can count with me - and every man of good will has the obligation to do the same; or we are gonna walk for a world that our children would not gonna survive, This area of Computers has been a long time a War Zone and the biggest companys are allways winning, I do not like this situation, and with me is a big part of the "hard user". I think that has a lot of persons that knows what I'm talking here.
Best regards
