If the timer is working,it is likely that the channel selected is not correct

How I can see ?

You can read my guide on Hard Drive testing and Hard drive defect hiding as there are some tests / procedures to hide defects that you can do even if you don't have specific firmware tools.

Be aware that it will take HUGE AMOUNT OF TIME on Biger drives like yours.

Regards and please post if you can read/write to sectors with Victoria/MHDD + S.M.A.R.T. log.

Can you erase the drive ? Use something like Victoria to dump S.M.A.R.T. and check if you can read /verify the surface.
Maye the drive have just a bad S.M.A.R.T. value for the shock sensor ...
Maybe it have bad sectors as well ....

I would do a "fast erase" with MHDD or Victoria by using the internal standar secure erase procedure as it's faster then using write.

no,it's still better not to do,as in rdmt may contain incorrect entries describing the defects. in addition, if the Security Erase fails,it is difficult to control the location of the crash. better done through SCT.
