Hi, so:
- drive worked for years fine fixed outside the case
- week before this trouble Win showed empty drive during the work, and
i did restart of the pc and full chkdsk /f - OK, data showed up back
- couple days ago i shutdown pc, pulled sata/power cables, placed different hdd on top
and did some work
- when i connected back this drive
i got this:
- Does not detect in BIOS
- Win after boot see Disk ST32000542AS, but without Volume name
- MHDD detect ST32000542AS but can't Init, no SMART, 0 - Size
- Starts as usual, platters are spinning & hear like heads makes first runs
Please help with expertise.
Thanks.

Купите\спаяйте\сделайте из шнурока от старого сотового ттл адаптер и лог сюда выложите. Потом будем обсуждать.
Give us log from terminal.

What commands should use to get log ?
July 11th, 2016, 13:03
Just ordered usb<>ttl
July 11th, 2016, 13:21
No command needed to get the log, just need a terminal with the right settings
July 11th, 2016, 15:49
So i just:
- connect usb<>ttl to hdd
- power on hdd
- make terminal connection
and wait log from the drive ?
July 11th, 2016, 16:12
No
- connect usb<>ttl to hdd
- make terminal connection (and settings)
And only then - power on hdd

Ok,
thanks for correction.
Will post log as soon as i receive usb-ttl.

Just got my usb<>ttl [ CP2102] from Alie
Gonna be figuring out how to connect and configure:
It has 5 connectors, and i need to connect only TxD, RxD & GND - Right ?
9600 or 38400 Bits per second ?
Gonna test tomorrow - today gonna read allot on this issue to prepare !

Ok some results:
Using putty got output, but
it was some random 'blocks' and somewhere single number or symbol.
Carrent was jumping all over the place.
On the next try [ tried switching Rx-Tx]
drive did some short spin and then like trying to read something in a loop with short spinning - output is just gray 'block'.
Also on this ttl device on some connection i got Red & Blue leds, on other just Red.
Does not respond to Ctrl-Z and no proper response from device.
When i connect normally via SATA cable hdd starts like normal:
1. long spin
2. quick moving heads [ like reading something]
3. and parking
MHDD see serial ST32000542AS but 0 size - Can't initialize [ F2]
What you make of this ?
Thanks.

No, no useful info in the terminal.
I tried two option of Rx-Tx switching and
tried 9600 & 38400 speed.
I will still try, but not sure what can i do to make
hdd responded in putty.
Can you tell me how hdd should react when connected via com-serial connection:
- should it spin or do nothing ?
And if i can't get nothing in the terminal - can it be that hdd board is the problem ?
Also read that for that case i need to remove PCB from hdd to get response since it's BSY !?
Thanks

[ changed power source and HDD now spins, gets response and keep spinning - as normal]
I getting this terminal log, which does not look like BSY [ from what i read], and
to remind my situation:
1. No BIOS Detection
2. 0 LBA in MHDD when selecting drive, and can't initialized
3. And i flashed CC35 FW when i bought [ 3.5 years ago]
PuTTY log 2016.08.19 11:35:05 =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=
à
Rst 0x20M
ASCII Diag mode
F3 T>
So what is the status - is it BSY or just 0 LBA problem, and
how to deal with it to fix it.
Thank you for help.

Did some basic tests:
Rst 0x20M
ASCII Diag mode
F3 T>/2
F3 2>Z
Spin Down Complete
Elapsed Time 12.605 secs
F3 2>U
HighPowerMode 002F
ExecuteSpinRequest
Spin Up Complete
Elapsed Time 9.034 secs
F3 2>Z
Spin Down Complete
Elapsed Time 12.622 secs
Looks like no BSY - em i right ?
Should i proceed ?
I have read about Clearing SMART & Bad-Black lists, but
i value Data on this drive - so would like to NOT damage it.
Maybe important note:
Couple hours before i notice that drive is not responsive [ gone from the system]
i did:
chkdsk /f
on HDD, and strangely it took him alot longer that previous check [ couple month ago - had some data disappeared, and
chkdsk /f recovered.
So direct me please.

F3 2>/1
F3 1>N1
Init SMART Fail
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024FFF5
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024FFF5
Looks like BSY - right ?

Rst 0x20M
(P) SATA Reset

Succes:
- BIOS now detects
- Data is intact [ on first look]
- MHDD now scanning whole 2Tb surface
So for good news Method works on ST32000542AS HDD.
Preatty happy - gonna get drunk tonight and
backup data.
Thank you all.

Can I suggest you back up the data first (like immediately), then get drunk.
