1. Every manufacturer says "our disks are the best". I had a customer disk, was 6 years off. Worked like new, was a Samsung. Could be luck, one day longer could be desaster, you'll never know. If you intend to search options for long time storage, use for example ZFS with high redundancy (4+ disks from different brands/models in mirror). It checks and fixes integrity if anything is fishy.
2. I don't care for single disks and just stack them in a dry room. If they die, they die. Always store data redundant is a top rule.
3. If the disk isn't damaged otherwise, no.
4. Avoid it. Avoid it more when it's running. Push down the risk by using disks with G-Sensors, but never count on it.

Format has nothing to do with it and makes no sense in this context.

Does the DVD burner drive have a magnet If I store an HDD next to a 3 unit DVD drive, will the DVD drive's magnet generate badblocks and delete files from the HDD?

hdds have a magnet or two, or three, or even four, in fact a pretty powerful ones, and they can live in the same housing as your data. So?

Hard disks are of 3 types -
1) Consumer grade -- general purpose basic entry level no reliability data write - 1 GB/day , usage - 4hours a day .
2) Enterprise grade --- Enterprise storage - can be used 24X7 , NCQ , 70 degrees sustenance , 550TB /year workload , high quality FDB & Heads
3) Server grade - 10K /15K RPM SAS
Toshiba enterprise has least failure rate amongst 3 remaining players.
Though WD has many flavours like red /blue /green /violet etc they all are essentially same internally with minor fw difference (pls. correct me if I am wrong)
video /survillence disks are not suitable for desktop usage (designed for 90% write & 10 % read besides not having ecc correction mechanisam.
While idle time for ssd is debatable as many claims that data retention is not guaranteed if ssd is not powered in a year many have claimed it wrong
Rule applicable for consumer products may not be applicable for enterprise .

In my case, I don't constantly use the HDD just to store backup files. How many days or months or years can the laptop HDD support stored without failure in the engine, mechanics, lubrication and flash memory where it contains the firmware and smart?

this q is stupid in a way. most of them can rest in the drawer for 10+ years, but who will guarantee the result?????
nobody.
you've got like 90+ % chance it will be readable 10 years later. Make your decision.
