Diamond Max 11 problem, no PC3000 support

March 14th, 2007, 18:16

Hello, I have a problem with the Maxtor Diamond Max 11.
Model: 6H500R0
500GB PATA drive.

1) Drive spins up (no motor problems)
2) No clicking Noise
3) No other strange noises
4) Drive is not recognized in the BIOS
5) MHDD does not recognize the drive
6) Swapped PCB (no difference)
7) Tried PC 3000, but DWF,CRR,ERR and all Error registers are on.
It looks like Diamond Max 11 is not yet supported. I tried another Diamond Max 11 which is fully functioning and it also flags some error registers.

Any ideas as how to fix this drive???
Ultimately I need fix the drive, because it's part of a RAID0.

Does anyone have more information on the Diamond Max 11???
Thanks again for all your help.

You can send it to us if you want

March 14th, 2007, 21:44

Doomer,
Actually I would like to fix this issue myself. Is there any help which you can provide?
I am pretty sure, it's a SA issue. Is there a Maxtor Update utility like the dload for the SATA drive version? Anything you could share about the Grizzly would be great.

If not will you provide me with the hddguru forum user super buddy discount

Thanks!

I think you can get dload if you want, but it does not help you, trust me :)

March 14th, 2007, 22:50

Other options?

March 14th, 2007, 23:08

hmm, I found the problem, it's Firmware issue.
Could someone please share firmware for the following:
HA3D1DH0
N,G,C,B

and the loader please.
I have a few of those drives, but not an exact firmware match.

March 19th, 2007, 21:49

can anyone provide the firmware please?

March 19th, 2007, 23:03

Hi!

If you are looking for maxtor diamondmax 11 firmware, this place looks like they cant provide it! A bunch of greedy people who dont want to help, they want to charge you much money!

March 20th, 2007, 9:42

studen
This is not true.

Imagine, someone provides you with DiamondMax 11 firmware. Now, what's your next step considering the fact that there is only a few people in the world know what to do with it?

Flash my harddrive, with the DLoad program

and

the comment in this thread was directed against the people that have the power to help other and choose to dont help and charge money for a simple solution!

I think if it's simple you don't need any suggestions, do it yourself :)

March 21st, 2007, 13:04

Studen
A simple solution is simple only if U know how to do it and have the appropriate tools.
To achieve the knowledge behind a simple solution might cost really a lot of time and even money.
U have to understand that people having it sometimes would not like the idea of wasting their knowledge for nothing.
So it is not about not wanting to help.
Another aspect is that somebody with some little knowledge can ruin a drive forever that would have been 'easily' recovered by an experienced DR expert.
Furthermore I don't think hacking around with warez programs could be called a 'simple solution', I would rather call it a crime.

pepe and Doomer

Of course its all about the knowledge but I found this like the story about 'the colombus egg' if you know that story. And thats why I wrote the stuff above. If people want to have a business then they should have a homepage special homepage or something like that. But I thought that this was a support forum! For normal people with real harddrive problems and if I knew the solution for some of the your harddrive problems I would tell you. I dont hold back my knowledge! But thats me!

And who is talking about warez programs?

March 22nd, 2007, 4:38

Add my few cents...

Yes, offcourse if got solution for free(without doing a research of years on it).you will easy share with other because not loss anything on it..but a person Spents money and more percious time on it, will think hard to tell it.

First of all ,i don,t think a person(newbies & endusers) is new with hdd should touch any firmware part of hdd.

one thing is that, all solutions are not of one line fix solution(A wrong step make unrecoverable damage to hdd)..

March 22nd, 2007, 6:46

Gentlemen,
I know that not everyone always shares the same opinion, and this is good!
but since this is a hdd support forum, or so :o
it would be nice if someone would provide support when people are stuck.
I understand that some things are not common knowledge and If you spend allot of time in R&D for the solution you certainly don't want to give
all the information away for free, others may not appreciate it or share this information to loosely. But on the other hand, I would also prefer if someone would not post a reply message unless it is of usefull information. (and I am not picking on Doomer, I know he's a great HDDGURU, but just think about it. Providing negative critic without a positive re-enforcement is not the way to show your help )
I think you can get dload if you want, but it does not help you, trust me :)
Then what will help me???
I don't expect a complete step a - z solution to follow, but maybe a pointer in to the right direction would be great.
What is with IDE Grabber, can I use this to generate more useful information on the drive?
I was not able to find any manuals on it, is there one?

FYI,
Maxtor has not released a Firmware update which could be utilized with dload for this drive, only for the SATA version.
I can see the drive and Firmware with HDD Repair1.1
I can create ROM and Loader, still having some problems with modules,
but I think with some help I can tweak it and get it to work properly.
But I will still need the Firmware.

Thanks again to all,

Drew

Here is a problem
You and other guys in majority can share information only what PC3000 knows, so actually this kind of help looks like nothing, because all what you do - just repeat what AceLab said and if they wrong - you wrong too, if they do not know something - you do not know. I'm really don't understand why anybody should share his own knowledge for nothing.
In this case I ask you a simple question, what you can do yourself for solve this problem (and forget about PC3000) ? Try to find solution yourself. You have your head not only for eating :)

Yes,Thats true ,i appreciate that, what you said. Some people could do nothing with hdd if they have'nt others tools.

Thank you Friend!

Is there any more information documents, tutorials, etc.. other then the information provided by the author on his website?
Will the IDE interface sniffer (IDE Grabber) be of use to me in finding out more about SA Module locations for this drive?
