if u can find another board of the same family DTLA transfer the orignal NVRAM to that pcb ur drive will work fine after that .

thanks rameez i will try it out.

Rameez i swap ROM it doesnt work, the faulty pcb has 25FV101T chip and S93C6 ROM, the replacement PCB i have has no 25FV101T chip.
I have tried measuring Q1, Q2, Q3, U9 all ok, could it be the Read Channel chip? D1 and D2 at the back of the pcb are also ok.

u will have to find the same pcb that has both ROM and NVRAM present like in your pcb if u have trouble finding the pcb give me info i will look in my stock .

Hi,
in your photo i also see a mosfet/regulator with a hole ?
October 2nd, 2007, 21:35
Rameez, the drive clicks after i swapped NVRAM and ROM to donor identical pcb.
Amarbir the hole is the manufacturing hole, its is tested working. I still could not figure out why the drive will not power up, i have identical pcb board, i swapped the NVRAM and ROM and still would not work. ummmm headache....
Heeeeeeeeeeellllllllllpppppppppp!

Hi Terranova,
Did you check if the nvram is still readable ? (use eprom-programmer)
Because, if the nvram is defective or corrupt, the drive will not start either!
Best regards,
Dobre

dobrevjetser , thanks...i swapped the nvram and rom to donor identical pcb and the drive starts but clicking...so i think it must be working....not sure...i dont have eprom programmer to check individual chips...

Today before i do head exchange the drive starts up but the motor controller chip gets really hot, i mean untouchable.

try to use SA Switch.. Sometime it because of its motor controller IC too HOT..

Tried replacing 90G2018 today same results.
Is read channel exchangeable? I suspect the read channel chip is blown cause all major parts warm except the read channel chip dead cold.

Hi,
just replace the MHA, put the prepared donor PCB on the drive afterwards, it should work...
