Many forums are out there.. DVD Firmware and Satellite forums are great and are truly open to a point. And no one makes money from it and no one relies upon DVD or Sat's work to feed their family and pay for mortgage (if you have one :O) )And I openly contribute and help.

So as you may expect... You ask a "direct" question about how to repair a specific problem (Which has cost us pro's time and in some cases money) which we rely upon to make us money... And you get a somewhat "Specific" reply like

1: Go to a pro
2: You will kill your HDD
3: I will not help because I am busy in my life or busy working.
4: What’s in it for me?

Data recovery needs "HARD EARNED" experience that takes years and even more years to master... And I'm not about to spill my guts to someone who will disappear as soon as we have helped them save $$$$$ and waved their arse's in the air.

Wouldnt it be a nice thing to do to help a person who has just lost the photos of there grandmother who died last month (And they cant afford a pro DR).

We are not talking about heart operations, and it really is a silly thing to compare it to.

Neither the hobbyist, nor your average mum and dad are taking money out of your familys mouth because they arent coming to you anyway!

Admittadly I guess you have no way of telling which category people are in when they post on here, but I guess if they are a first time poster then they may not get the benfit of the doubt.

I work harder and longer on recoveries that contain family photo's that could be lost forever. And quite often lose money on those jobs.

Data recovery engineers do have a "Conscience" and I know from my own experience that other data rec engineers also work harder on family info that is lost forever.

In mosts case's data recovery can be cheaper than getting your car serviced or a new boiler installed.. Some don't care if it costs $500 USD for some twat to install a boiler BUT fall of their chairs at the same cost for data recovery.


People will always hate and be jealous of people who have the knowledge...

2: Your getting paid for what your doing on the side while you have a job
3: You hate the fact that it will take you a long time to learn this field
4: Your used to freeware and expect the world to keep suppling it
5: You use cracked software and hardly every buy real paid for SW
6: You download movies because "Haaa why rent when you can download"

Anyway thats just a shot in the dark ;o)

I dont know you, dont hate you, and jealeous would be the wrong word - envious perhaps. I havent posted too many questions here yet, but what I think I will find frustrating will be the lack of answers.

Nobody has to answer, but I arent taking money out of any of your businesses. Why do i want to know how to use MHDD for example? Just because its interesting, I love to know what it can do. No other reason.

Hmmm most Mum & Dad's have insurance which covers recovery. And I always help them with engineering reports so they can claim the cash back... That is one of the good things in this job. Happy engineer and happy customer with family photo's back at 0 cost

Nothing more. But don't tell me that I have to teach every moron on the net to do it because "can happen that they have to recover such stuff".

is quite a large proportion of HDDGuru end-users I am sure.

Anyway with the 7200.11 Moose you have free recovery from Seagate....

Hi all,
I use the tutorial to solve the 0 LBA issue on my segeate and maxtor 1T HD.
After, the last step my HDs were back, so I decided to upgrade the firmware to avoid this issue again.

But now each HD has errors over 80%. They are part from linux software RAID5. Recovery stops at 80% with HD access error from the seagate and maxtor.

I tried Seatool software on the segeate with USB adapter, the long test stops after 80%.

Any idea ?

I don't know about DIY. But It seems to be difficult to restore data from an HD which is part of RAID5 and LVM volume.

Now I understand. So there was no error message during the command sending to the firmware or the firmware upgrade. This is why I'm very surprised.

It was the 'method' to 'revive' the disk and your overall process that is RISKY.
