????????????

"MHDD could not find the hard drive" vs "Model #, serial, and firmware are all correct"

Which is it?

I couldn't get MHDD to do anything. It couldn't locate anything. I even hooked up a known good hard drive, and got the same message. It kept saying "disk not ready"( I have the damaged hard drive slaved with a USB adapter) I tried HDDscan, and got the results I posted.

USB adapters block most of the low level access.
To use MHDD you'll need to attach the harddisk (through an 2.5" - 3.5" adapter since its a notebook drive) directly to the motherboard.

That would explain a lot then. HDDscan read it easily, but I don't know what the results of the surface test mean. what's the differnce between hddscan and mhdd? Looks to me that HDDscan has all of the same functions, and then some.

I ran a smart scan, using HDDscan, and here are the results. Could somone please look this over, and decipher for me? ( #199, Ultradma crc error count, was flagged)

The drive shows up as e/ drive when I slave it, and when i click on it, I get this error message

E:\ is not accessible. The wrong diskette is in the drive. Insert (Volume Serial Number: )

It shows up as a RAW file, 0 bytes. ( Back story, real quick....laptop gets wet, starts going into never ending rebooting cycle. Hard drive switches to RAW. I know the data is still on there, just trying to get it off) Is there a home program I can use that would work? I've tried most of the freeware stuff already, amd most of them didn't see the drive, and those that did, would not access it. Any suggestions?

Image to known good drive or image file, then try something like r-studio.
