How does this one word (if its even a real word) help the user here?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear,_unce ... _and_doubt

"Fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) is a tactic of rhetoric and fallacy used in sales, marketing, public relations, politics and propaganda. FUD is generally a strategic attempt to influence public perception by disseminating negative and dubious/false information designed to undermine the credibility of their beliefs."

"The term originated to describe disinformation tactics in the computer hardware industry and has since been used more broadly. FUD is a manifestation of the appeal to fear."

By identifying various claims as FUD, I am helping visitors overcome the intimidation and scare tactics employed by many regulars to convince them that a manifestly simple task is beyond them, or would result in tragic consequences.

Good news, my atlas iii came back alive for a while after i performed a board transplant. I purchased a used Atlas III drive from fleabay. Transplanted the board and the drive came up. The drive is very slow, but I was able to get data out. Lucky me. The drive is not usable because it is very slow for some reason.

My 500G seagate also came back after I removed one of the TVS diode. Everything is saved, thanks. You guys and this forum have been very helpful.
:D
