What do you want to pay for head swap tools. There is several companies who sell them. Depending on what you wish to pay is where you can go to find them. I would google on this ne. I know HDRC has some, SD has some and one other here on the forum has some. You can find him in the manual section here he has posted his manuals for his tools. Check him out on this one.

Normally in training they provide tools for you to use along with HDD to work on. Not sure who is teaching your training and asking you to purchase all your own tools to use. But might be a good one to learn how to use your own tools during the training class. But if the trainer can not show you how to use your own tools you purchased this one might not work out. You might want to ask your trainer who ever it is to tell you what he wants you to get and have for your class. Might be safer this way.

I cannot find a matching donor for a head swap anywhere on the Planet Earth for this HDD:

WD400BB-75CAA0 DCM: HSEHNA2AA

I did find:

WD400BB-75CAA0 DCM: HSEBNV2AH

Swapped heads, no click of death but is not reading either, PCB is shot also so i did a pcb swap also but the ROM file i rewrote makes the drive click when i write it and i have to swap to another doner PCB to stop the clicking.

I believe for this silver 1 series i have to have (XXXXNA2AA ) for a head assembly.

I am new and currently learning, if anyone has any knowledge of this issue i would
like any help.

What were the drive's symptoms in failed state?

If the small discrete components adjacent to the motor IC burn your fingers when the board is energized, then the heads are cooked as well.

Recovering these early 40 & 80 GB drives with bad heads can be challenging. There are several important aspects; one of the most important and difficult is cover / head alignment.

It took us several years to develop a repeatable and reliable process through trial and error. The best thing you can do is get a bunch of these (working and non-working) and experiment with them, until you find meaningful and helpful patterns.

What I have to match to find a donor for heads transplant?
Full model? And full/part firmware?

i would put my efforts finding the matching head map, micro jogs and preamp rev. rather than the DCM

but if you don't have the experience/equipment needed for head replacement, and the data is important to you, i'll strongly recommend to send it to a pro

I already read these informations about microjogs etc. in the hdd rom, but when you are searching for a donor disk on ebay for example, the vendor won't never be able to give these infos. I've found only 1 or 2 sites able, naturally not in my country.

Here because I bet to find a donor disk on model and DCM.

I know the risks and I have some knowlenge. (surely not like a Pro!)

However...
The data is quite important, but not to spend 1.000 euros like asked in my country.
If I'll be able to recovey the data in the hdd, well, if not, patience. I'm trying to do that.

In the World there are people who recovery data in non-protected atmosphere and with non-proper tools with success, so tools don't count so much like knowledge instead.

In the posts above people have compared models and DCMs of hdds and asked if they were compatibles for head swap. (PEOPLE WITH KNOWLEDGE ANSWERED)

So here what I was looking for.
