Since when is being inquisitive a bad thing? And No, I will not do it myself. I do not have any equipment and especially experience, so I will happily leave that to the experts. But I don`t see a reason whey I should not know what needs to be done. That way I can maybe get in idea if the DR company is competent or not.

I have already sent it to one DR service (with good credentials) and look how it ended up. I paid approx. $100 for shipping and diagnostics fee. If I did not ask questions around here I would live under impression that the drive is beyond recovery, because that`s what they told me in the DR company.

But that`s OK, you have been more than helpful. I appreciate your input and I do respect people that choose not to share the information (either because it took too much time/money to research it or for the sake of the drive to keep it recoverable).
