You do realize that parts nowadays, new or used drives, by themselves cost $80 to $350 depending on what you really need? So, in many ways this and many other factors dictate the price and not so much the greed to bankrupt people.

Yes, there are a couple who prey on opportunity, but not most. Glad you are researching and become an educated customer. More should do the same.

You are confusing Data Recovery with Drive Repair or Diode Removal. The latter two are often something that you can do on your own, for very little cost, and sometimes for free. That's where I can help you, if you can provide some simple feedback. At the moment it is unclear into which category your drives fall.
