Are you aware that the 'recovery' is going to cost not exactly few $ like some people say ? Summing up the cost of the donor drive and everything else the 'damage' is in the 600 to 1000 range, most probably. So said, we have valuable members of this forum that can help, do you prefer GA, CA, LA, IL or want to ship to Europe ? Sorry I don't know yet any colleague in WI to suggest.

With its original rom damaged, the drive is of not much use to you/him.
But it can be fixed (as a whole) or used for spares by DR guys, and hence maybe of
some value to them only.

so think it was a wasted effort.
