Seagate 7200.12 500GB ST3500418A​S no spinning, just beeping

Assuming it's sticktion only, that the spindle it's not jammed and that the heads survive the entire cloning process.

I just have to call you out on this utter nonsense. So what is the recovery price if its not one of the 0.00001% of 72.12 with head stiction. I've only seen one 72.12 stiction case in a couple hundred seized Seagate motors. Maybe stiction on 72.12 is more common overseas? I would have to guess this $100 is some type of bait and switch scam to get a drive in for recovery and charge a normal recovery fee. Sort of like this guy here in California that advertises on Google, $60 dollars for any recovery. Its only when you use his/her online recovery quote that it shoots to over $1,000 dollars. Our company just completed another seized Seagate 72.12 yesterday and used no less than $45,000 dollars of equipment to accomplish it. So to your $100 dollar price I would have to stand up and and yell "BullSh*t". All while ROFLMAO.

If you ever used any "Unstuck tool" you would know that it doesn't work. Even if it did manage to get a motor spinning again it would seize quickly or be so out of balance that the heads could not read. Stick to electronics.

That head and platter tool is only for drives without dividers. Which makes it pretty useless for any drive made in the last five+ years. That platter tool will make a drive so out of balance you would have a pretty nice vibrating back massager. But you probably already knew this. Stick to electronics.

We made also many 72.12 and .11 and all were seized didnt see a stiction. Also we have all tools fzbar reported and are not useful in this case becouse leading vibrations and spacers.
my advise is still same ...a pro is needed.
especially on 4 platters motor seized like here.

Actually we don't charge anywhere near $500 for a shorted diode or 0LBA issue. Get your facts straight. This post discusses a user with a seized motor. I see your reason to change the topic but it doesn't really work here. I call you out because head stiction is rare in these drives. In my opinion your way over your head if your only charging $100 for this work. You might as well call this your hobby because nobody charges that little for a head stiction or seized motor case. And that's fine if this is your hobby and helping people gives you some weird sense of accomplishment. PC3K is only a tool, it takes someone that actually knows how to use it to make it work. Genius is not the term I would think of. More like someone with a narcissistic personality disorder.

Cris I thought you were nuts at the start of the link but as I watched it got me thinking. I think it could be made to work with a bit of development and testing. Also I reckon to give extra clearance the hard drive cover could be modified with spacers if required.

One thing to add though is I'm not sure of that braking system.

I once used a power drill mounted on the spindle.

It created a little mess on the platters I should've taken pictures.

Of course, and needless to say it was done on a test hard drive.

I have a Barracuda 2TB drive which spins up and beeps 3 times then stops (fails POST I guess)
I installed it in PC and the BIOS recognized the drive but reported it as failed, so I can't access it in windows.
Plugging it into my Macbook in an enclosure also detects it as a failed drive. I'd like to get the data of but not worth $1000.

Also I live in Portugal hence your service might be interesting (also any advice anyone can give as to the problem/solution ?)
