Hi Folks,

Does anyone knows whats the level of support PC3K Express + DE will offer for USB Drives, mainly the WD ones.
I don't see any build in USB port into that. I tried to get the Info out of them but didn't get a clear answer.
Will it be able to image a WD My passport with bad sectors as the DDIv4 with the USB Adapter claims to do?
Or just FW support, in this case will it provide access to unidentified drives SA?

From the info I've been given, it will not have a dedicated USB hardware controller for imaging like DDI 4 USB add on.

Thanks for your replies folks.

So it wouldn't have dedicated USB port, that is a shame.
When i spoke with Cathy S. she asked the engineers and they told her that if the USB drive is identified it can be imaged through the DE. But from my experience if these drives identified and have bad sectors it is really hard to image them.
Did someone tried it out using USB PC port with late version of PC3K + DE ?
Does it manage to image properly?

In addition what support does the PC3K offer for USB drives in regards to FW repair?

why worry ? You can always direct connect, just 10 minutes of additional work... (ok it is annoying, I know...)

It is pretty annoying to do the soldering work, although I'm quite used to that by now.
But as new versions like the Express is coming out, why shouldn't them add it? we surely paying more money for that, and as you said before time is money :-)
