The 2060 number (eg 2060-771702 or 2060-771698) is printed on the PCB. Therefore it reflects the bare PCB.

The 2061 number is printed on a label. Therefore I'm assuming that it reflects the configuration of the populated PCB, including specific options.

A Google search for "2060-771640-003" turns up references to both Black and Green drives, eg WD10EADS-00P8B0, WD10EARS-56Y5B1, WD1002FAEX, WD2500AAKX-001CA0, WD10EVDS, WD3200AAKX, WD5000AAKS-00UU3A0, WD5000AAKX-75U6AA0.

However, a search for "2061-771543" turns up nothing.

Instead, searching for "2061-701543" or "2060-701543" finds references to Velociraptor models.

My understanding is that the 2060 and 2061 part numbers should match in the 6-digit group, but I'm not a professional.

AIUI, the R/N should match the number on the PCB, which it does.

My investigations lead me to believe that the DCX is related to the model number suffix in 3 of the characters.

In your case a warranty search against your serial number produced a model number of WD1002FAEX-00Y9A0. The suffix is "00Y9A0".

Tahoe2D has 2061-771640 PCB. Z3 suffix is also a Tahoe2D model
High chance that your real drive model is WD1002FAEX-xxZ3A0. It's from Black series, internal name Tahoe2D

"164min for SECURITY ERASE UNIT. 164min for ENHANCED SECURITY ERASE UNIT"

This is consistent with a 7200 RPM drive. A 5400 RPM drive would have an erase time which is 33% greater.

So it appears that somebody may have taken a Black and changed its model number to the internal number of a 5400 RPM drive.

That said, the only number that can be trusted is the 2060 number on the PCB. If you can't provide photos of the label and PCB, can you scan them? Can you tell us the date codes on the PCB and the markings on the chips? The chip markings have date codes which will confirm the manufacture date on the label. The warranty expiry date should also be related to the date on the label.

Hmmm, I think I understand what happened now.

Somebody took a regular 7200RPM Caviar Black HDD and overclocked it to 10K RPM by adding the PCB sticker from a Velociraptor. They then added 24/7 enterprise reliability by renaming it as a Caviar Red.

This requires special tools and skilled labour, so it's no surprise that the cost is significantly higher.

BTW, about 40 years ago there was a disc drive manufacturer named Diablo. Perhaps they're back in business?

Here is the picture of my harddrive. The drive have 2 labels on the pcb, on marked on the pcb and the other one printed on a sticker. So, the conclusion is? Is this worth for 2x price from common WD Caviar Black? And it has great performance than common WD Caviar Black ?
