This morning I went to collect the smart data, but it is dead again... hmmm

Is there any chance that the drive is configured to Power Up In Standby (PUIS)??? Can you see it BIOS, perhaps with a blank model number?
Could it be that the PCB has a dry solder joint or thermal problem?
