chinopk, fzabkar, Ok. So the problem is definitely mechanical? Because when I tried connecting it through SATA it just froze up windows. BIOS took ages to load up and it didn't even detect the drive. That's not normal, is it?

from the fact that it is dropped disk, it is for sure a mechanical problem.

+1 to that. I never will understand why people constantly assume it's an electronic component that just happened to fry the exact second they dropped the drive. Even after a half dozen pros tell them it's an internal issue.

chinopk, data-medics,

Because I wasn't sure if I had used it before or after the drop. I often test a disk immediately after dropping it. I discovered that it didn't work weeks after the drop incident.

it seems that drive is still with you and you are not interested in sending to DR company. right ?
If drive is spinning without any clicking or abnormal sound am interested to take a look by Teamviewer if you are willing ?

We recently recovered a dropped My Book 2TB. after drop the disk was still recognized in windows but unable to copy files to other drive. Upon analysis we found 02 faulty heads in drive.
