I'll check diodes but i think that if diodes would be damaged, the computer would not be turned on.

That depends on whether the corresponding resistor is closed or open. WD's drives have an amazingly stupid design.

i went and read your posting on hddoracle on this subject and i have a few observations to make .I will post this in the research section with a pointer to this post for reference .

I've bought donor wd1600aabb-00pua0 (for 9 euro .
After change PCB to my hdd (wd1600aabb-22pua0), engine has been started (plates are spinning) but drive is detected in bios with empty name and isn't accessible

You need to adapt the ROM to work with the drive.

Yes, I think that drive after change PCB makes normal noise - the same as donor drive, that works correctly.

in any case the sollution is the same, DUMP ROM with firmware tools, check format and rebuild ROM using info on SA with specialized firmware tools.

Could I downloaded that tools from somewhere?

No, I prefer to do it myself, to get satisfaction.

You can try to use WDR DEMO to read/write ROM

I am able to read ROM from donor hdd in WDR DEMO.

What is the next step?

Download modules from the drive with SeDiv DEMO.

Then you have to find correct Modules (SA) that you download with SeDiv (the ones with the adaptives - copy of Rom modules) and PATCH your ROM file with the correct info on SA to re-build original ROM Then you write that to the PCB and you will hopefully have original ROM

I ran SeDiv and was able to detect disk. All time I practice on the donor disk.
Where to look for the appropriate option to download the ROM from SA?

Try to press "Ok" ?!

Also you want modules from platters on the "samaged" drive so that you can create comaptible/initial ROM with those modules.

+1 The 2060-7XXXXX-XXX number is all I ever match on WD PCB's. It'll work after you transfer the ROM.

IIUC, you are working with the donor PCB on the donor drive, and your resource dump contains the ROM and SA modules of the donor, not the patient. Am I correct, or have you managed to dump the patient's SA modules?

Yes, now I'm working with donor, beacuse I'm testing programs. Next I want to replace PCB and download ROM files from patient.

I moved PCB from donor into the patient disk and tried start computer.
Unfortunately, I get an BSOD at Windows booting
