I got a multimeter that doesn't "beep", but with a diode check function which looks like this "->|-" (I hope I'm right here).

When I connect the multimeter to each ends of the 0 ohm resistor, it displays ".000". I suppose it means that the resistor is still OK.

When I do the same with the TVS diode, it shows ".008" (even after reversing the probe connections). It means that the diode is shorted, but there is something else in the circuit. Am I right?

According to fzabkar's answer, all I need to do is to remove the shorted diode. Then my HDD should start spinning. Right? Thanks!

I've just removed the diode and got my HDD back working. Can only confirm that the solution in this post works. Many thanks!

Thanks to everybody here. I can also confirm that removing the diode work on WD HDD. The one in the bottom left of the picture below the R64 resistor next to where the plastic of the main connector is. Pic attached

The link regarding details of the TVS was also very useful. As mentioned in that guide, don't replace the connection, just remove the diode, nothing else needs to be done. It came off easily with soldering iron, wedging a thin flathead carefully underneath helps.
