Are there any other mitsi processors that have similar core but more open tools? you might find some references or even utilities

2013 was around the time when Hitachi and Mitsubishi merged their semiconductor businesses into Renesas. It might be worth downloading the short form catalogues of around that time to see what kind of processors were available to the general market.

I swapped the heads, but I made it worse. I managed to touch the platter with my finger when I was removing the old heads, so there's a small print there now. I was also successful in allowing the new heads to touch and bang against the plastic thingie in which they're parked.

Result: It behaves exactly the same. I tried to switch EEPROMs, boards, no luck.

Should I give it another try with a new head assembly?

Ok... I did another little experiment. I was going to trash the HDD I bought off of e-bay, but I figured I should put the old heads in and see if it works. They did touch and they were out of the HDD for a lot longer and I also managed to spit on the platters of this one as I was trying to blow some dust that fell off of the case when I took it apart.

Before I put the heads in, I put them under the microscope and I saw that the actual head is guarded by the outer shell (which I originally thought that it holds the head on its tip) so bending them or knocking them off of their position seems unlikely even when handled without too much care.

About the spacer that I've seen being used in several videos to keep the heads from touching, when you're removing them - I don't think they're necessary either, because the heads don't touch, instead the little material that makes it float touches with the one from the other head, while the head is recessed a bit, above the level of contact.

Bottom line: the one from e-bay works with the heads and the PCB from the broken one. The borken one still doesn't work.

What could this mean? Is there something wrong stored in the service area?

How did you test determining the heads are fully working?

I'm not 100% sure they're fully working (although I suspect they would be tested, no?), but the e-bay drive gets recognized by the BIOS, just like before, while my drive doesn't, just like before.

If visible in Windows, check with hddscan. If not, try MHDD.
