Reading this thread, I can't help but get the sense that we are missing some major detail here.

WD My Book Duo hardware encryption:
http://forum.acelaboratory.com/viewtopic.php?t=8848&p=30771#p30771

AES-256 hardware encryption key should be in original NAS board only. So, to decrypt the data you need to use the original key from native NAS.

Another twist ...
http://forum.acelaboratory.com/viewtopi ... 214#p31214

The 6TB [MyBook Duo] is the one with the dead enclosure which did not have a user password and doesn't have a key on the drive.

The 4TB [MyBook Duo] has the working enclosure and according to the client had a user password. Both drives are working and both have encryption keys on them.

This info helps me a lot in checking your encryption system.

The My Book Duo operates using a version of Linux. You might try enabling ssh access then connect to it and see if the data on the disks still looks encrypted or not.

Thank you for the info... but I have no good news to you....

It seems that your My Book Duo constellation does not use the JMicron encryption chip.
Or maybe it uses a somehow changed version... I don't know.
But I think it's more likely that there is some of the other systems in use, maybe from Initio, PLX or Symwave.

If I'm right.... I cannot help you at the moment... because till now I have only implemented the JMicron system in my software solution.
You could wait till I have the other systems implemented...maybe we could give it another try then.
