Well to put it simple, it is PERHAPS possible by someone with A LOT of experience and know-how.
I do not know if your boss or you have that kind of experience, but judging by the fact that the missing lid was considered the biggest of the problems, then maybe you don't.
No pun intented, but you're swimming into muddy waters.
Determining the model number etc is just the tip of the iceberg.
Again, not trying to be offensive or anything, just my $.01.
