The yellow cable was badly soldered on the pcb of the usb box.
I finally detached itself so I had to resolder it.
Do you think that current cuts because of this yellow cable
could have damaged the electronics of the hdd?

I've been wrong. DR guys usually don't want you to succeed because they lose business. If you touch the right components on the PCB, the drive will start working again, and you can get all your data.

I'm surprised, after all this exchange, you almost sound like you're starting to listen to us. It's probably just a coincidence...

I'm guessing a platter swap will kill the drive the quickest, and end this miserable thread, so my vote is for the platter swap.

The head exchange is like platter swap.
With the virgin hands, first time.... :D

These is equal.
Both kills the drive.

But agree, the platter swap is the best. ;)

I'm not gonna try directly on my hdd... I will sacrifice other hdd
of the same model to see how it could be done.
I could try first to remove and put the platter back on a sacrificial
hdd and see if it still works...then maybe I'll change my mind and go to a pro.
By the way , how much a pro will ask for this?

abducted, you drive have 3 platters, and 5 or 6 heads.

Before you remove any patter, you need to remove the headstack also, and with the first move you will destroy the chance for recovery!

(The platters are aligned together you can't remove them one by one, only together.
But need to work on micron precisely. )

You can have 3 type of problems:
1 pcb related (15%)
2 head related (40%)
3 preamp related (40%)
4 head crash and platter damage (< 5% if you not moved, hit the drive)

(or combination of 1-2-3)

The pro, who will get it, easily can diagnose, measure, and know what to do and how to do it. :)

All the type of problem are in different price range.
But the diagnose is generaly free. (in my lab)

Additionally all the pros hate to work on previously opened drive, the price is alway higher and the chance of success is much lower in this case!

Where are you based?

Regards,
Janos

I'm in France.
Can you tell me approximately how much
it would cost if I send it to your lab for repair,
or do you need to see it before giving any price?

If you had ANY chance of sending it to a Pro, you just wasted all of our time. Replace the Platter, THEN send it to a pro? What, you don't want ANYONE to recover your data? Frankly, if you did open the drive, I'd have absolutely no sympathy for you. Why is this collection so important to you? Why don't you just download more porn?

I haven't opened it ! I was thinking MAYBE I could swap the platters.
But the people here make me realise that it will be the end of my data if I do that.
So I now I understand my only chance is to go to a pro.
The problem is how much it will cost.

If you swapped the platters, your chances, and likely even a professional's chances, would drop to Zero. You've been getting good advice, yet you kept going on like you were talking to yourself. If you took 5 minutes to actually read, you would have seen one of the numerous posts that tells that platter swapping is a last resort for a Pro. Where did you even get the term 'Platter Swap' anyway? Do you go to a Doctor's office, and say "Yeah, I'd like to get an Angipolasty"? Do you even understand you don't have a clue, yet you're ready to rip into a drive and remove all chances of recovery? If your data is important to you, I certainly can't tell.

How much will it cost? I can't speak for everyone, but for many years I've had a special charge for special people. I call it an Asshole charge. If someone is very jerky, annoying, stupid, or in some other way messes with my mood, I add 10%, sometimes more, to the bill. My peace of mind is worth something.

why do you all say that I swapped the platters?
I listened to your advice, ok??
I have not done ANYTHING to this drive so I can surely get my data back
if I go to a pro.
Thanks fr your help, bye bye
