Hmm... interesting.

Well, probably the ACPI does not get activated. There may be a way "step down" the CPU frequency in the BIOS, which will reduce the heat generation.

As far as overheating is concerned, that's one way to turn an easy situation to the "take it to a pro" situation. Heat certainly loves to kill drives.

You may want to use a system that is more stable.
