I have a "Western Digital My Passport SE" whose data are password protected.
I signed. The unit is accidentally unplugged, so when it is reconnected, I was prompted for a password. I entered, but all I get is the window that says "the password is incorrect"... I entered the correct password (I'm sure, for several reasons (use the same, before detaching it worked...))
Now I no longer have access to data ... Is there a solution to access data without losing them?
Thank you

just a quick list of master pwd i found on my travels
WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCW <----THIS ONE WORKED FOR ME
WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWD
&'()*.WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWD
h2oinsyde <-----for acer drive(but not mine)
if none of the above work then the fun begins
first download MHDD boot disk (google for it)
copy the unzipped files i put up on to a usb stick and plug in
remove all drives except locked one
boot the cd and press F5 (safe mode)
type 'c:' to get to the contents of usb drive
then type MHDD to run the program on the usb not the cd as that is wrong version
in MHDD (select drive this might take a little bit of getting use to!)
run the script by typing ".dump" or ".dump2" (two different scripts)
the script will run and return "DONE"
read the 22.bin file if DUMP script run ok with a hex editor
and 42.bin if DUMP2 script run ok with a hex editor
also read all other posts for more info
hope this helps
and a great big thanks too all who posted and helped me save 8 months worth of HNC elec engineering work thanks!
Nirvanowiec, a big xtra thanx for the script i used....
MHDD.zip

kinda strange, where did the drive get locked? laptop, external, desktop?
apparently people are finding this thread, which started out as a western digital Marvell chip drive. and has turned into "help me my drive is locked heres my Model & serial" and some are heres my cs.bin or other bin. then followed by i gave an error so i created a bin with another tool, now i can't find the data strings. for clarifications on the procedure..
some way some how you have to get the .bin file from your drive, period. then you examine the bin for password info.
trying to do this with freeware is pretty dificult & creative. so don't get fustrated. its hard to imagine a problem offer solutions with out being able to test them since we don't have the drives in our hands. & then have a "can't belive you guys won't help" my hats go off to all the gurus. also drive firmwares are very tricky when you break them. chance of recovery is difficult & thats with tools. i charge what i think are competitive prices, & i tell them "not to hold you data ransom" this is really a time consuming pain the rear. i do it for the satisfaction that i made a change in some ones life. but also i need to compensate my time & wifes time that i'm away.... i lose chances to make memories by saving your memories..
damn sorry to rant dimitry feel free to delete this post. i have read the whole thread all day, & i just had to express my thoughts..
you HDDGURU, keep up the great work & don't stop inovating Ideas..
okay i'm done, back to cracking ATA passwords

My HDD is from a laptop, I know that I have to get the .BIN files, but I tried all the tools mentioned here and nothing..
My HDD is a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB (WD1600BEVT-22A23T0), and like i said.. I do not care the data... please!! Just tell me what tool do I Have to use... MHDD did not work for me... it show me a "ERROR: No DRQ"
Maybe I have to modify the cs.bin file, but i dont know how...
I tried ZU, marvell, afua, atapwd and others... and nothing..
Just give me something to keep trying.. its all that i ask...
August 15th, 2011, 21:06
1st off like we said, you need the bin file, your not got gonna modify anything at this point. since you don't have the bin file.
have you tried loading MHDD then plug in the data cable, maybe your bios is locking it..
August 16th, 2011, 6:57
I tried ZU
You need ZU.Betta1.1

Hi, I have a WD1600BEVT-22ZCT0 which is ATA locked. I have the Shinobi ATA unlocker in our office but this hard drive is not supported (neither is the Shinobi anymore apparently).
Anyway I have read and re-read all posts on this thread and have downloaded MHDD 4.5 and have tried the scripts available but I keep getting the "Drive reports error". I believe this is due to the offsets in the CS.BIN file?
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
