Thats not quite doable. One reason is because the latest HGST drives have 2 sets of codes for factory on. So you would NEVER get the special key that way.

However, it's a good idea as I made a script like this 13 years ago to do the exact same thing (Didn't really help):O)

So the best way to find commands and understand them is to start digging hard disk ROMS + Overlays (Sometimes) If you want to be ahead of the game this is where you need to start. Look at DVD patcher forums if you really have a spare 1-2-3 years.

Would be of much more fun if someone steals HIS notebook or portable HDD , unlock it and then have access to his data, ID, documents and pictures and use them, steal whatever they can and post on Youtube and everywhere else. This is what internet is intended for, no ?

This can be a scenario. too. That's why even having the K-H or tooling or both , it is always a delicate subject.

I'm sorry if i choose mis-location and mis-time, but very hope to get help....
My HDD is Samsung HD080HJ (80GB). Because of some unknown reasons it was locked by password.

After theoretical knowledge exploring i've stop before that:
Bootable FDD with DOS and MHDD;
HDD with user maximum password (by MHDD opinion);
"t" 32 times is not fit (i suppose master password was changed too);
Other passwords (set by some hdd-soft) are also don't fit.

My questions are:
1. Can i unlock it without special hardware if i don't know any (user/master) passwords?
2. Are the other passwords for my Samsung exists?
3. Who was able to set this password if user was not able to do that? PC was dusty (maybe it was a hardware-brake), and user said some message appeared in internet browser and he click something (maybe it's windows-virus).
4. Can HDDUnlocker repair this from windows? (this is the most "linked" soft in the internet - it's a fake or it's true?).

Thank you very much, sorry for my (maybe) stupid questions and for my (not native) poor english. I have no time to search more information, and actually have no much ideas about where i can found it.. but this is a very very important thing for me (i can be fired if will not fix it). So i hope for advices, links or whatever you can give me :(.

please help me, humans!!! :(

Good posting 'Infringer' I too, had a WD1600BB IDE drive that was
ATA Password Locked & rather than throw in trash, I put it aside with similar
intentions to you and finally decided attack it. I found booting from V4.6 CD ISO
& using 2GB USB Pen Drive, I was able to get the info that I thought was going
to give me a chance to get this HDD Partitioned/Formatted etc-previously with
the ATA PWD Lock, the drive did appear to be 'throw away' material.
Others did suggest a LLF, Low level format but I knew that wouldnt be possible.
Luckily by searching the saved *.bin files, I was able to determine that 42.bin did
contain what could be considered a Password [line 390B08-03A0-03 12 Alpha characters]
and further Net research led me to believe that this HDD had at some time, been in an
X-Box. Fortunately, the Password was spot on and the Drive is now Partitioned
& working well-countless hours were spent to get the final result.
Experience is a wondeful teacher-now moving onto the next 'challenge'
Thanks for sharing your methods.

Warren
