how is it possible to take such poor pictures and video?
if you have an iPhone, put chip on a table near a white wall. get a desk lamp and shine it at the wall. Hold iPhone about 20cm from chip and press screen to focus. when it looks good take the picture.
in a paint program such as ACDsee/MS Paint/Photoshop/paint shop pro/gimp whatever.... crop the picture so only the chip and a tiny bit of background is showing. don't bother uploading it unless the detail is actually good enough for people to help you.
If you spend more than 2 mins creating resources for people to help, then you have a better chance of actually getting some.
I still cat decide if I can help or not as I cant really see the chip and damage yet.
PS, more than one picture is allowed..

I think it must be a hoax. He seems to suggest that he knows something about hard drives (alluding to being unable to extract the ROM from the SA of a F3 drive), yet he pried the ROM off the PCB with a screwdriver?!!! Who knows what heat/ESD/mechanical damage was inflicted in the process. I picture missing SMD components, ripped traces, and a brain-dead ROM. And when the recovered contents are returned in a new ROM, how does he plan to attach it to the PCB, with the screwdriver? And when the drive doesn't work with the replacement ROM, I wonder who gets the blame? He must be laughing himself silly at us even considering the job.
Notwithstanding all that, I'd be interested to know what options are available to bare the stubs of the leads, aside from a dremmel tool. E.g., is there an acid that would dissolve the packaging but not dissolve the leads? (Probably WD40! LOL) Would a very hot, fine-tip soldering iron make it possible to "work" the packaging around the stub? What power microscope would be required, and how does one hold the object securely while working on it? (I imagine something like jewellers use when cutting diamonds would work.)
