having the same issue, MK6034GSX rom is embeded in mcu, removing mcu is not an issue reballing the solder it back is.

anyone has a workaround or tips ?

Er.... no. Reballing is always and always will be a PITA. But that's life. There are systems to make life easier but it is always an annoying process. Time consuming and annoying. It's the other side of technology.

You are right. There is no external ROM on this model.

I assume you have checked the fuse? F1? that is a common problem for Toshiba drives.

I faced this problem about 2 years ago. I tried a lot but
couldn't find any solution to recover the data at that time.
The main processor was burnt out(including that F1 fuse).

We've done successful Toshiba MCU replacement (with re-balling) in nearest past
That's PITA but it's doable
