Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Enlightened self-interest I would call it. We do cooperate with one another and do help each other out when needed.
We share and know that our info is safe. Most engineers/companies also do highly discounted recoveries for registered charities and probably donate to other causes in society.

Where you probably come into :-
greed, a desire for material wealth (which may or may not belong to others). Software, super commands etc in your case
Envy is the desire for another's traits, status, abilities, station, or worldly goods. It need not be associated with an object; its salient characteristic is the unfavorable comparison of one's own status with that of another. :

Greed is a relative thing. Of course, I think the firms that charge $2,000 for what we're willing to do for $350 are "greedy," but the market has a way of finding it's own balance (i.e. "fair" pricing) eventually . . .
BGman, I suggest that you start your own forum if you don't like this one. I know there are a lot of other people with a sense of entitlement and who feel all knowledge obtained by hard work, monetary investment, etc. should be free to all. Go for it!
Good luck.

Just to accept the facts which are:
1. The number of morons that do not backup their valuble data is getting lower and lower. And the price they are ready to pay is getting smaller and smaller.
2. The number of HDD's for repair is getting higher and higher.
3. The myth that DR requires very expensive tools and software is true only for about 5-10% of the cases. For the rest 90% DR (at 500$) is just cheating !
4. The people doing HDD repair are not competitors to DR people, so let us help each other as much as we can.
I don't think all what you say are facts but
With first I would agree but at the same time people start using more external drive for "backups" which are esy to fall and die
I would agree with second but it doesn't mean it will increse % of repaiarable drives enormously
I disagree with third because most expensive part of DR is a professional tech (which is not easy to find)
I'm OK with helping when it's fair trade
So what do you propose once again?

P.S.
In Eastern Europe we teach our children to help each other.
In Western World they teach their children how to cheat each other.

DIY : What's the Big Deal? - The Good The Bad and The Ugly :
The Good - Its free if you know how, sharing is good if you get some positive feedback, dont expect this from newbies.
The bad - Bad for people who make a living out of this
The Ugly - Second hand DIY stuff it up and give it to you to recover the data, very often i see this.
Sum it up: DON'T ASK for FREE DIY, if you have nothing to offer. We bust our Ass OFF learning and researching, it costs money, time and sometimes BLOOD

Ohhh PERIOD. (c) as usual BST.

In this world I was taught that if I wanted something I had to work for it - a car, a horse, a rifle, a house, a job, even a woman. I still think I was born in the right place.

Why doesn't ACE just make freely available all their info for other people to use then?

Finally you came to the point...
And don't play "smart guys" to us because we know who the real smart guys are - those who sold you PC3000 ISA (PCI, UDMA, etc.) ...

Hmm must admit Russians are very clever compared to some countries. Some of my relatives are Russian so I have best of both worlds............

With regard to Acelab they offer a product that people need. People who understand the value of the product will purchase it. People who cannot afford it will save and save and save and then buy it.
You also have people on here who know more than Acelab on particular products

and have their own software which they work hard on
November 9th, 2009, 7:16
so anyway. As Doomer said "We still waiting to see your proposition"
November 9th, 2009, 8:45
My suggestion is very simple:
Don't behave as your politics do - scornful and arrogant!
Pay more respect to people able to do almost the same job as you without having expensive tools from AceLab or Salvationdata!
November 9th, 2009, 9:08
Respect must be earned - it cannot be demanded.
