Hi Guys,

I've been reading this topic for a while in order to unlock a 160 GB WD Scorpio drive (WD160BEVS) from a Fujitsu laptop. I got the laptop from a disbanding company - it already came with a locked drive. Using MHDD 4.5 script I managed to dump the '22.bin' file, however I have had no luck deciphering the password from it. Would you be so kind to help me do that?

Thank you in advance,

mcz_1

Screenshot of the file is attached. I can upload the bin file if needed too.

Thank you very much for the reply xsoliman. Unfortunately I can't send private messages yet, so I am responding in this manner. What tool would you recommend to try to unlock the drive, as when I tried mhdd, I was unsuccessful. I am going to try on another machine though, as I couldn't even set an Ata password on an another had just for testing.

Cheers,

M_cz1

Good morning My fellow IT gurus

Would someone please put me out of my misery, I have spent three days trying too unlock a HDD from a BT Vision box to use as a spare, don't ask me why, it just seemed like fun at the time and became a major challenge......

.dump produced 22.bin which I have attached as picture file below with the drive set as Primary Master

I can see PACE FRANCE Master Security PDW2 but having tried both of these it still says locked, using MHDD 4.5

any advise and guidance would be greatly received.

kind regards Stuart

THANKYOU Fzabkar

The other thing that is confusing me is the codes you sent do not correspond to the ones in the 22.bin, am I being really stupid here?

I have read most if the thread several times, I must be missing something....

Kind regards

From a cooler UK

Hello to all.
I have a WD 320Gb WD3200BPVT.
I did unlocked the drive user password but in order to wipe it out or secure erase it needs the master password (I think so).
I did run mhdd and all the scripts from .dump, .dump2 and .dump48 and received the data.
When I look at the 22 bin file I can't be sure where the password would be hiding. So, if there are good willing members, please give a try at my file ore just pinpoint where should I look at and how to convert it into hec
Thank you

With a great deal of frustration and trying and more enormous help from Fzabkar..... My drive is finally unlocked. Here is what I did

1, The HDD needed to be the only one installed into a machine
2, Boot it to c:\
3, run MHDD from Floppy
4, having written/copied scripts in MHDD type .dump or .dump2
5, the one that works does not return an error
6, you should now have .bin according to which one worked (21, 22, 42)
7, the next thing is to download a nex converter, to view the .bin file

I needed alittle help here, and Fzabkar kindly provided me with a .bin file
I then tried several ways to run " Victoria 4.46b"

I found this best to run on windows XP

8, run Victoria and input the password or prepared .bin file
It's then an anti climax as the drive magically UNLOCKS

Hey Presto, a very happy camper

Thank you once again Fzabkar, you are da man!

Thank you crazymedic for your quick response!

As suggested, in the attachment you will find the 22 bin file compressed in rar. Give it a try.
Fzbkar, please a try, too.

Thanks

Thanks Fzabkar.
I manage to remove the password under zu, but when I try to erase it, it doesn't complete, hence it still stays unrecognizable in the system ans I can not format it. I gave a try with linux and hdparm. Here says as follows:
Security: Master password revision code=65534
Supported
not enabled
not locked
not frozen
not expired, security count
supported: enhanced erase

But when I try to secure erase i get an Input/Output error.
It seems that here the locked one is me, or I'm missing something and don't know what.
Regards
P.S. A 21 bin file renamed in txt is attached.

Today I run dlgdiag under Windows through Hiren's CD and did some experimenting. Checked Smart Status twice, short and long test and seems everything OK. I also did write the physical drive with zeros, turns everything OK out. But, contrary to the dump scripts from MHDD under HDAT2 i received a fully different script. So the SMART is OK, zu removes user password, but erasing and formatting the drive without the master password brings me to a dead end.

I think I must give up?!

Not sure. Maybe the firmware is damaged. Need advanced tools to access the firmware. Specialists have those.

hey guys,

i tried to read and understand this thread, but 1. my english is not so good, 2. its the first time, i have such a problem:

i have a RDX quikstor from tandberg data. inside a WD800BEVS (80GB). and this is locked. the support for tandberg dont wont to give the pw.
so i tried to crack it... whith mhdd ive got the 22.bin (see attached renamed 22.bin).
i read, that with hirens boot cd -> win xp -> vicoria i can let read the modified 22.bin instead the cleartext-pw. so i follow the instructions, how i must modifie the bin (search the 01 07, copy the next 32 pairs, create a new bin and paste it in) and let victoria make their work, but she failed.

now my fear is: tandberg modified the firmware, can it be?
or im simply stupid? (i hope, not!)

greets, aon

Hi Im having a problem. I have a toshiba satellite laptop. the stupid HDD1 password prompt appeared out of no where.

My problem is as soon as the toshiba satellite boots up, it wont let me boot from cd or usb stick because the enter in HDD! password prompt comes up first even if I change the boot order. I even tried disabling the HDD in the boot order menu and it still comes up with the password prompt. I cant even hit f12 to choose a different device because as soon as the bios self test completes the memory test the platter spins up and the hdd prompt comes up...

If I remove the HDD boot to MHDD and plug in the HDD it isnt being recognized. How do I get around this crap? I have no idea how a password was installed on my HDD, its really weird and I need the data.

Thanks much in advance.
