This must be the master pass: 02 00 03 00 04 00 05 00 06 00 08 00 09 00 0A
But I read somewhere that the bios uses keyboard scan codes rather than ASCII. :( That's why it's gives me an error when trying to convert to characters. :|

hi, I already converted the pass but why it doesn't work? Please help me what's the correct way to input the pass. Thanks. This is my cousins' laptop played by kids due to her negligence, it's really messed up, OS corrupted, BIOS & HDD locked. I'm just stucked in HDD, the BIOS pass already cleared.

Hi,

i have make the 22.BIN file wirh MHDD. My HDD is a WD160BEVT with an ata password i didn´t know.

I don´t know how i can get the password witch that file. I hope someone can help me.

Your 22.bin file in hex says its a WD2500BEVT not a WD160BEVT as you said.
Has this come out of or been prepped for an Xbox? & now you want to use it in a pc?
You've done the hard part & the master password is in plain text in the 22.bin file ie the wdc bit

Hi

thanks for your support.

The HDD worked in a Notebook ( Acer Aspire 5920G). I got it on Ebay.
The vendor says nothing about a password. Now i can´t use it...

It´s not necessary to get the data.


Oh i have send the wrong file. This was a file i have downloaded from this page.

I am new to this site and am trying to use MHDD to unlock my WDC WD2500BEVT-22A23 Hard Drive any help is greatly appreciated. I keep getting a ERROR: No DRQ When i run the dumps please help

Please I need some help ???? I have a WD3200BEVT and it is locked with security password expired. I have the dump file but I didn´t match the correct password, I tried the hdat2 software but the expired counter was reached message is displayed and by the mhdd the password typed always is invalid ... Can somebody help me please?

Hi guys, I have been following the post and trying to test the theory out on a WD1600BEVT that I already know the password for.

I cant seem to find 01 07 anywhere in the files

can anyone help?

Offsets 0x0A - 0x0B in 21.jpg indicate that there are 4 sectors in MOD 02. You need to examine 23.jpg.

thanks, it was indeed in the file I didn't check lol

I had to alter the offset using the code posted above in order to be able to dump the correct range.

how would I do this if system asks for password at boot?

I have removed harddrive and inserted it after boot but its not found by the program?

so I guess it has a user password? and I have to put in the hex keys that correspond to that area right before the "WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCW" section, so would I start at "40 and stop at ff"? and do I use hdat2 to input password or can I use mhdd? oh and thank you very much for such a prompt reply :) I understand that this is a kinda old thread, thank you for the help!

"Note that if you have set the password via BIOS in a laptop, say, and you then attach the drive to a different machine, eg a Windows desktop, you will then need to send the password bytes via a file. If you try sending the password as ASCII codes, then the password challenge will fail."

*So..since this hd password was set in bios, and I am trying to unlock it on another pc I have to send it by file? if that is correct, is there a thread about sending it by file using mhdd or by victoria?
