But I read somewhere that the bios uses keyboard scan codes rather than ASCII. That's why it's gives me an error when trying to convert to characters.

Your 22.bin file in hex says its a WD2500BEVT not a WD160BEVT as you said.
Has this come out of or been prepped for an Xbox? & now you want to use it in a pc?
You've done the hard part & the master password is in plain text in the 22.bin file ie the wdc bit

The HDD worked in a Notebook ( Acer Aspire 5920G). I got it on Ebay.
The vendor says nothing about a password. Now i can´t use it...

It´s not necessary to get the data.

I have the dump file but I didn´t match the correct password, I tried the hdat2 software but the expired counter was reached message is displayed and by the mhdd the password typed always is invalid ... Offsets 0x0A - 0x0B in 21.jpg indicate that there are 4 sectors in MOD 02. You need to examine 23.jpg.

so I guess it has a user password? and I have to put in the hex keys that correspond to that area right before the "WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCW" section, so would I start at "40 and stop at ff"? and do I use hdat2 to input password or can I use mhdd? oh and thank you very much for such a prompt reply I understand that this is a kinda old thread, thank you for the help!
