Let's see how it looks from our side
1. You come here and you ask for something (as many others).
2. People here told you that they are not going to share requested info with you, they have such right, becasue this forum is free for participants and they will, correct?
3. You are saying that we have to share info or we are going to be scornful and arrogant (so you threatening members of this forum)
4. I don't see any respect from you
And here are some facts
1. People here are willing to share info if it's fair trade (which you haven't shown)
2. You credit score on this forum is far lower than the minimum of trust (and you didn't do anything to change this)
3. You proposition does not reflect your behaviour, so it look like hypocrisy (which lowers your credit score even more)
Suggestion:
If you want to be respected here, stop damanding and threatening, propose some fair trade for requested info or earn respect of members of this forum by helping others on this forum.

I joined this forum at the same time as you !

For this time I have helped many people asking for nothing in return.
I've been helped by many as well, but mostly guys from Eastern Europe - Russia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria. I'm fully aware that I couldn't expect any help from guys like you, BlackST, guru, jono-ats, etc.... When I post a request in this forum it is directed to my friends in Eastern Europe not to you or BlackST! So, please , don't post in topics I have started and , more important, don't tell me who to help or not help !

Lets go back to the original question ..

There is one group of board members which is missed in your post - the guys doing HDD repair, not Data Recovery. I belong to this group and I'm fully aware how important could be a bit of information sent by a friend from this forum. Repairing a drive could bring me 10 - 20 $, so I cannot aford expensive tools like PC3000 UDMA, etc. MHDD is doing great job in most of the cases. MHDD script engine can do almost everything PC3000 can do if some information is abailable. Information we are searching in this forum.
We don't compete each other and we don't keep our "secrets" for ourselves.

I'm fully aware that I couldn't expect any help from guys like you, BlackST, guru, jono-ats, etc....

Some -- if not most people here -- are willing to help to a reasonable degree if a person shows common courtesy and a minimum of respect to strangers. If your behavior cannot meet those minimum requirements, then you can probably expect to be treated roughly.

Oh, I see that you've included my name in your "list." I'm posted many times, and my memory is not the best. Perhaps you would be kind enough to remind me when I ignored a question from you or treated YOU shoddily?

Let's take an example:

I've got a Hitachi drive HDS722525VLSA80 which is locked by unknown user password. The security level is set to MAXIMUM. The master password is not changed ( Rev. code FFFEh). If I knew the default master password I could unlock the drive by using Security Erase Unit command. Eventually I could earn about 20$ for this drive.
It's not a big deal ! I couldn't buy a pair of shoes for this money.
Don't tell me that if somebody share with me the default master password he could ruin his own buisness!

Certainly the makers of PC3000 invested LOT OF ENERGY/YEARS/MONEY in research producing their software tool (the hardware part is only a protection, it could be totally removed because everything can be done via software... maybe some code can be stored in the isa/pci card but it's a engineer choice, not a must !). What I woul like to know is WHY manufacturers do not want the commands to be made public !!! In an article I recently read I see that some "deep" hd feature are not well understanded even by manufacturers !!! Probably most of them do not know how the chips they uses really work ! So the reverse engineering done by those few people are really GREAT !

For what I can say HDs has a life that can be considered "secure" after 10 years. If an hd is older than 10 years it can be considered "not useful to gain $$$ for data recovery companies" because probably 95% of people already upgraded to something new so I ask a thig: why don't you make public some ONLY-SOFTWARE solution for at least very old HDs models ? For example from 20 or 40 Gb down ? This can be a GREAT ADVERTISE for your company !

I do not exactly know if new hd models use the same commands of their older "frieds", maybe this is the main reason why also old models cannot have a free solution !!!

If instead of watching TV or hangin' around a medium intelligence guy spending that time in some R&D can do that "magic" , everyone can do.
Of course, asking for being spoon fed is quicker.

P.S. 10 years to say "secure" : have you ever heard about PATENTS LIFE ?
Moreover, there is still need for recovery of 52 MB (yes, MEGABYTES) drives form early 90's... and many drives are UNDOCUMENTED even to makers of the multi-thousand $ tools.

Yes, of course, "beeing spoon fed" is quicker and safer (you avoid errors and maybe save $$$ with hd). Now I am working to make my own software to change a specific model serial number and it all comes from me and google (and a good friend of mine), but I think I will share my knowledge with the public because I DO NOT WANT TO MAKE MONEY because I have my own work and linfe, this is simple (look at the xbox scene, the software to swap hd is free and had been made by people who loves reversing). Probably people who ask for money has ONLY that specific kind of work and I can understand.

About PATENT LIFE... it's a big joke because you know that, even VERY SMALL, % of crashes CAN HAPPEN BEFORE STATED patent life: even if that small, can always happens to you, and when happens to you go to "patent life statement" and punch it
