help identify Seagate TVS ST3160023AS

November 8th, 2008, 17:58

Drive is shorted, machine will not power up with this drive attached. Zero resistance across this component (bottom center, circled in red) . The drive spins up OK with a different Seagate board attached, but the board is not compatible.

Is this is a TVS ?

It's not a great picture, and the link only goes to freeimagehosting.net, not to any specific picture. However, I'd think it's very unlikely it's a TVS. Perhaps a coil. If you're looking for a shorted TVS, look in the upper left of the picture. They are usually placed next to the power connector.
