Not with free tools you can't.
Could be bad g-list.
Seen in BIOS?
Disk spinning?

This happens to me too. Get a S Error in MHDD Scan. You cant access the drive with any software but BIOS can detect it.
Did you get this drive out a iPod or Zune?
I think Toshiba have put a lock or password on these OEM drives so they can only be used in a iPod. If you put it back in a iPod it works fine. Can reformat and run a scan using HDDSCAN on windows.
Let me know if you solve this problem.
