The password is ON the ROM that is ON the PCB. If you change PCB, you need to change ROM to the donor PCB. If you swap the ROM the password goes with it.

Sorry, but this is not DIY, without the proper tools.

maybe easier to sit in a dark room and try to remember the password

I could be wrong, but the ROM appears to be the 8-pin chip at location IC602.

These URLs should help you identify the components:

I think you missed the point on this one Frank.
He needs the password.
Changing pcb won't get him any closer than he is now.

That's what I thought initially, until pclab suggested otherwise.

What matters is that mistakes should not be allowed to stand uncorrected, which begs the question, why wasn't the mistake corrected earlier?

Because if you really did this work you would of understood the joke behind this one. How can you just send the PCB in and get the PW from it. Impossible. You can not swap ROM to new PCB PW follows. You need special tools with the drive + PCB also in order to unlock this drive and reset this PW on it. That is why it was not corrected earlier.

Sorry, but I don't get it.

Is this because of what I said/suggested? My answer is wrong?

Old method to tell WRONG to get TRUTH... but it depends if it works or not... or if it works ANYMORE....

Why all the questions here are masked with no straight answers? It's better just to get a simple Yes or No, then things with no sense, or just say that you don't want to tell.

And if you don't want to tell, what's the point of being part of a forum?
