DiamondMax Plus 9 data recovery.

I purchased a Maxtor One Touch many moons ago and used it religiously. At some point it stopped working. I can't hear or feel it spinning at all. I kept it around in hopes that some day I'd find the time to recover the data. The time has come!

What are my options for recovering the data? Do I just find a replacement board? The board looks good, no fried or burnt components.

My current computer is a laptop so I'm not sure how to connect the two to retrieve the data. Seems to me board replacement would be the way to go, since I have the cables and body of the One Touch. Just need someone with more experience to confirm or give me a nudge in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.
J.

DM9 should be a straightforward PCB swap.

Same model and MCU should do it.

thanks for the nudge. Much appreciated.

I found a PCB board for $39.00 at PCB Solutions.
For kicks and grins I go to Newegg and find the exact match Maxtor external hard drive for $19.00

Funny.

After reading a little I see that I should probably go with the pcbsolutions.com PCB. In that I need to make sure model # & drive size match my existing pcb. Buying the external hard drive, case and all, doesn't guarantee a match between the two pcbs.
