HDS541080G9AT00 Rom trouble

January 8th, 2009, 12:39

I have one of the drives mentioned above with a damaged rom chip. I have tried pcbs from drives with the same model no and mlc. The customers drive now comes ready on mhdd but it says that it does not support lba mode. is there something else i should be able to match for compatibility or do i need to do somthing else. I have access to pc-3000 so is it possable to force compatibility. The original rom chip has a broken leg on it from where the customer tried to their own rom chip swap to sort out a power issue. thank you all for your time.

A broken leg on a rom chip can be repaired with a microscope and a firm hand.
I did this allready several times.

I believe NV-RAM can be rebuilt from platters with this model of hard drive. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you know how these drive work you can do it. I can either repair the damaged rom or rebuild.

I haven't checked but PC3000 probably has a button "RESTORE NVR FROM SA COPY" ..probably...
