I need a replacement PCB for this drive or a way to fix it. The PCB is fried and I have had no luck finding a compatible match. I have found a drive with the same model number, but the firmware and build date where too far off, so the drive was not recovered.

It looks like the circled object is the TVS. Hopefully I can just remove it or swap it with a working TVS from my not-like-enough seagate drive.

Another damaged component (not in the picture) is one of the smaller "GR3" components. Hopefully I can resolder a working version of that component in place and all will be okay.

I have never done anything on this scale before. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

I actually have that exact drive from Singapore with this exact firmware. It's a 300GB version. Not sure if I want to give it up though.

On the other hand... I have an Agere board (also SATA and FW is 3.03 on that one from China) as well so I can at least have a look at what you posted.

It's a 3R3 component.

By the way, I am having rotten luck with drives from that batch (specifically the FW 3.03 site code WU (China)). Cause of failure tends to be overheating. Even if you do recover it, please don't count on it lasting long. I don't use them in production, so it doesn't matter to me.

Seagate won't help you. Well, they'll refer you to i365, which is a Seagate company... A DR company usually has a large stack of PCBs from all the previous drives recovered. You are welcome to try your luck by posting this request in the marketplace section of this forum. Thank you for taking clear and high resolution pictures. That certainly makes our life easier.

Speaking of fun... since I have both an Agere and an ST controller card, I'll see if they can be interchanged, this weekend, provided ROM is re-written.

chances are if you swap the 2 components you're drive should come back to a working state
