hhd gone bad

hello there, new to this board so stick with me may ask some silly questios..........

So heres my problem,

built up a new pc all well and good no problems there plugged in xtra hard drives so far so good turn on the pc on, one hhd smoked other 2 not being reconised. When i plug in a new hhd all good and working. My guess is that the other hhds have been shorted out by power surge or just dead. If i can find new boards for hard drives is it worth trying to put new boards on the bak and see what happens?? If so any idea where i can get the boards from??
