Fried my seagate =[

I dumbly plugged the power connector into the seagate while the computer was on, next thing i know it..computer shuts down & I smell a nasty burnt acidic burnt smell. I desperately need to recover this harddrive! i have 5 years of music & meaningful pictures on here. I need you pros to show me what new board i can buy. will any 7200.7 work? or anything in the range of ST3800XXX. I'm hoping i have more opinons than buying the exact same drive because it's kind of hard to find & might be pricey. i'm only 18 with very little money & experience in welding! pray to god i don't have to weld anything =[

Pics unclear. A pro can diagnose your problem and likely recover data but at what price? If you were here at least I could give a hand. My fear is that damage has gone beyond pcb to headstack/preamp. Hint: until you don't do experiments, data is safe and sound INTO THE DRIVE. Wait for better times. And beware of 'friends', geeks and internet bullshit if data is valuable to you.
