Seagate ST9100825A disc password

February 23rd, 2009, 1:29

Hi,
I got two disc (both same Seagate Momentus ST9100825A) with the disc password. I am trying to figure out how to remove the password. I am trying to use them in the HP TC1100 laptop. I found the references to MHDD, but when I try to run on a laptop, it shows the channel one and tries to find a disc on channel two and hangs there.
I am trying to run the MHDD from a USB CD drive as the laptop does not have floppy drive. I found some reference to this problem and the solution was to run MHDD once and that it would do some changes in MHDD.CFG and I could check this file. But where is this file written into? I cannot access the disc protected drive, so if it would make some changes there I cannot see them. CD is not writable so it cannot make changes there? How do I tell MHDD to work with the first channel and not to look any further (as laptop does not have second channel)? I know that be default the first channel is disabled, but is there any other way?
Thanks

Try attaching the drives to a different computer. Some newer HPs do not work with MHDD.

would connecting through USB work? Or do I have to connect the drive through ATA cable?
Thanks
