I need some help with this drive. I have a maxtor diamondmax plus 8 40GB. The drive shows in bios that it failed i have to f1 to continue. I used a cloning tool, and it won't read the sectors but is does see the drive. i tried a board swap, i have the same results. Would this be firmware or SA? I have mhdd setup and running could i use this to my advantage or to help me find answers?

Thank you!

There are possible 2 problems with your drive. First problem - destroyed translator. You can recover it by PC-3000. Second problem - fully dead G-List. It is possible to recover by PC-3000 too.

Me,

If you became a Acelab customer, their manual and forums have plenty of information :good:

If you have not, you can try disassembling the hdd microprogram, (i can't do it) but i think that for doing it
requires A LOT of experience in hacking, reverse engineering, machine code e others "very simple" skills :(

You can also try asking in this forum, but people seems to be very quiet around here ...

Regards

(Feel free to PM me any time you need)
