Hello,

The firmware is on the platters.
You can't solve this with pcb swap.

Bingo !

Time for a pro. If you have nothing interesting, trash the drive. The recovery will cost you more than a new drive.

And when I say internet is dangerous...

Has the WD Drive's a 'save mode' that's can be activate and reflash the firmware (in SA) via rs232?

No, but if you connect the SATA to the joystick port and put a dvd with the PC3000 Udma software on the xbox, without the card, AbraKaDabra! The xbox will check the disk, erase the SA, perform a full selfscan, flash Rom, rewrite full SA, recover data and, if the xbox is online, it will connect to the user's bank and make a wire transfer of 1000$ while downloading some random fun stuff as a bonus :D

I would like to clarify this only works on Xbox 360 if you have gold membership.

Very funny :)

The drive ist quiet. No spinning up:(
But if I booting linux its try to spinning up for 5 sec. After this time the drive is spinning down.

Maybe the ROM on PCB is damage? If i swap the pcb, would this work?

ROM is damaged. PCB swap will not work. Copy of ROM in SA, accessable only by pro.

Trancy, to cut a long story short (nobody want to tell you the HARD truth ?) : to work with this drive, CHECK AND REPAIR, assuming you know exactly what to do (it's not a hacker style bit torrent downloadable tool for those cell phones or satellite equipment or other gizmos) , you need either :

- PC3000 UDMA by ACE LABORATORIES, Russia
Cost : about 10'000 $ for the HW + SW , plus ANNUAL SUPPORT FEE.
- Other tool to work with your drive family (HW+SW).

And it's not click and go like "save rom from sa" "restore rom" "done". Even seasoned pros , if you see this forum, have their headaches using such tools...

IF you have only a problem like ROM corruption, a honest quote would be about 100 EUR to fix your drive. You'll never lose data IF and only IF the problem is only in the ROM.
Otherwise (and I have a great suspicion about it) your drive has MORE THAN A PROBLEM, then the price will be definitely higher.

SO SAID, if your drive contain only emule'd stuff and personal not valuable or sensitive data, nothing "not-elsewhere-available" stuff or something like that, ASSUME you made something wriong, get a new drive, trash it OR try to RMA it (your drive will be repaired at factory and all data erased).

Was this answer clear enough ? Maybe not so pleasant, but it is the truth.

You are so wrong... He has to spray the platters with oil because the heads are making it go too slow.

After you spray it put the cover back on but leave one screw out because you have to put it in service mode this way (shhh don't tell anyone.)

then you have to download the firmware burner version 22342b.2 from any torrent site and upload it to the XBOX, before trying the the joystick because it wont get detected. and he might make the head go to far. You gotta have a steady hand.

good luck
oh try version 22343z if you can find it. it the better version but you have to be VIP to get that.

Find a HDD Doctor - believe in yellow pages - take a glass, pitcher, some ice, mixer, bottle of rum, two heachace pain relievers mix yourself a good strong one and sit down with your drive and beg him to come back to life. Call the doctor in the morning after the headache. If not there is a lot of do it yourself handy man sites that will help you vamp your drive back to life.

No I am sorry you really need some serious work on that drive. It is not a one click RAM repair job. You will need to seek professional help on this one. WD is one of the drives you should not play with by yourself.

You will learn not everything you read on Internet will work. Check out more than one site before preforming dangerous operations on your system. See what other have done first before trying
