How to update a WD HDD?

Well hello to all! :D

Emm first at all, i have installed a WD3200BEVT HDD on my notebook
FW: 22A23T0
but, it's still working cos' seems to be damaged or something ... ¿?
i was working on Windows 7 moving files between 2 partitions..
but later light went out and when i attempt to start.. system could not boot.. :S

then i booted from a windows xp inst. cd and i deleted all partitions on this hdd
but... after reboot the hdd was not responding but works
i tried boot from a ubuntu live cd and wasn't able to see any hdd contents.. nothing xd
I was format the device but was not possible ...
also, i tried low level format.. but with error and i got the same... :evil: :cry:

Any help? :(

can i update the firmware for this device?

whatever...

There is no firmware to update through any means you likely have available to you. The ability to change firmware requires software/hardware costing many thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. Also, it would not necessarily fix the drive.

It sounds like you did not have anything important on that drive. Be thankful for that and just buy a new drive.

One final thought, be sure to try the drive in another computer first. It sounds like the drive is not being seen at all. While it's most likely a drive failure, a controller or cable could have conceivably gone bad.
