The first question is: What was wrong with the drive that made you think a PCB would work? Did you properly diagnose the drive first? Swapping the PCB without knowing the problem is like a doctor giving you theraflu for a fever; it MAY help, but the doctor didnt diagnose you properly, you could have an ear infection or worse.

actually my HDD was not getting any power ...i tried to connect it internal and external and either ways didnt start...so i bought the same HDD but with different data numbers on the PCB and when i swapped the PCBs it started but with clicking and not recognized by windows so i think now that the problem is only the FIRMWARE or the U12 chip or something like it but i dont know what is the next step..
thanks advanced

If you can show a good resolution pic from the PCB's component-side, maybe we can help....

If after u exchange the Serial ROM, into the Donnor PCB the HDD Knocks, then could be the damaged pass into the MHA, inside HDA, that could be diagnostic by a professional, and not DIY Solutions i can suggest u Dobrebjester he is on beligum and could help u

PCB swap will NOT with this model, also there is NO ROM to swap, it's masked in the MCU I think.

PM marc (dobrevjester) ("v" not "b")

He's a proper DR pro in Belgium.

Yes, U12 is ROM on these but of all the ones I've ever seen that clicked when powered on, precisely ZERO have been PCB failure only.

So it is Alberto, that'll teach me to try and answer questions after two bottles of red! ;-)

But, even if you do swap the ROM it's unlikely to fix the problem like drccsc says, as these series are prone to bad heads/preamp and very very difficult to fix.
