FW Request!!! WD4000AAJS-00YFA0 12.01C02

Hi Gurus!!!

Firmware Request (Salvation) for the WD4000AAJS-00YFA0 12.01C02.

FW scan showed Mod 032 (RBBLIST) read failed.

The drive's read/write test passed. Tried Regen but failed. I can read both G & P list but G list seems to be empty.

Mod 032 (RBBLIST) is the one I can't read...

Double click on the mod. does it load into hex editor in Salvation Tool? For some reason it sometime does not read mod when backing up but mod can be viewed. If so, copy and paste into new file. make sure filesize is exactly the same. Maybe use mod from same family as template.

The drive takes about 30-40 seconds before it gets ready. Stay Busy for the first 30-40 seconds. When try to view sectors, it goes in the error mode....

Salvation will lock up when I double-click on it. However, it does create an error file during the FW backup. File is 16KB and it looks like the following:

When I tried to regenarate the translator, every 2 or 3 times, I'll get successfull message like attached, but still can't get to the userdata....

I have the 12.01C01 but not the C02.

You can't write unique mods from other drive!

I know.... It was SD's recommendation to get the donor FW, so I can look at it and see. Justin looked at it and told me to go get the FW 0034 and 0032. Then regenerate the translator. Looks like what I have for the 0032 is a partial module and not the whole thing.

Any help will be greatfull.

Sometimes when I have found weird issues with salvation tools I've found it best to save out all tracks, then search in the tracks for the relevant module.

Thanks, I'll try that and see. I was able to copy most of the tracks. For the SD, track 0 is always an error, but I was able to copy off most of the tracks. I'll go see if I can find the module I was looking for in there.

Mean while, if some one has the FW for this drive, please help me out for the module 0032 & 0034

Update : I have the feeling SD is not working properly. If possible, get it analyzed with PC3000 to see if you get same problem.
