Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I had a hard drive that "quit working" It does not seem to be grinding, but the system cannot find it. i have a vantec adapter to look at the drive, but cannot see it. I also purchased a replacement drive of the same model, thinking I could replace the electronics board and it may work. How do I go about trouble shooting this. My concern with the electronics replacement is that the part numbers are different. Please offer any advice. There is nothing on the disk that I absolutely need, but it would save me a lot of time if I could get it to work. Thanks, Troy

Hi, replace a pcb on a Toshiba will never work.
I don't a have homebrewed options to tell, other to seek a proffesional guy near you..As it it's not a walk in the park.
